Get Ready Guide for Models

Use this page to help guide you when getting ready to be a model for your first art modeling photography shoot with Aaron Knight Studio. Get ready to bring your A-game, positivity, and high energy to the shoot!

If you’ve never worked with Aaron Knight Studio:

Make sure I know about tattoos so I can have makeup ready.

Before the shoot, remove body hair to minimize razor/wax burn.

Be ready to remove piercings for the shoot (small earrings are okay).

Model getting ready

Hair & Nails

  • Hair: should be a single color or subtle highlights. Please get in touch if you have altered your hair before a shoot.
  • Nail Polish: light, pale pink, beige, French, buff, etc. are all great. Natural is fine.
  • Nails: clean and medium length or trimmed. Round, almond, or natural shape.

Basic Makeup

  • Eyeliner: Brown or black; don’t extend beyond the eye area.
  • Mascara: Please use brown or black mascara or false eyelashes.
  • Lips: Clear gloss, pink, or match bare color. No red, bright, or dark colors. Don’t overdraw or line.
  • Eyeshadow: If you use eyeshadow, it should be gray or brown, not too heavy, and should not extend beyond the eyelid.
  • Eyebrows: Leave alone. No eyebrow pencil unless otherwise discussed.

Please Avoid

  • Red/dark lipstick, lipliner
  • Heavy bronzer/rouge
  • Foundation (unless discussed)
  • Long/red/dark/bright nails
  • Extra long or point/stiletto/peak nails
  • Nail jewelry, decals, patterns
  • Darkened eyebrows
  • Tan lines/sunburn

If you’ve never done nudes:

  • I have photographed hundreds of models. Once you are in the studio, it’s easier than most people think. Send your questions ahead of time or check out how it works.
  • Wear loose clothes; nothing tight on the day of the photoshoot. This avoids elastic lines on your skin. Ideally, don't wear socks or jeans. You can bring these kinds of outfits to wear for the warm-up portion of your photo shoot.
  • When we start out, we begin with clothed photos.
  • Feel free to bring someone with you; I'll meet your companion before the day of your shoot so we're all on the same page.
  • Reduce tan lines and avoid sunburn in the days before your shoot. Use a 30+ SPF sunscreen and remember your shoulders and neckline.
